The Chianti Wine harvests at a medieval castle and a small family winery, a gourmet butcher and an unusual wine shop in the picturesque town of Greve, a leather workshop, and a maker of luxury jewelry. The Chianti is the hilly region in the heart of Tuscany that is synonymous with wine. We start with a visit to a 300 - year old butcher shop/museum that makes the finest hams and preserved meats. Then, we tour a 12th century castle and a small farm to see the grape harvest and winemaking process. Nearby, a unique wine cantina is explored. Next, we go to the village of Panzano, the home of the most famous butcher in Tuscany, Dario Cecchini, and also the leather workshop of Carlo Fagiani, maker of colorful leather shoes and accessories. In Tavarnelle, a terra cotta artisan shows us how he makes the classic pottery of Tuscany and we also get to see a bronze casting. Then we visit the small farm of Podere Terreno, a special agriturismo, or farmhouse inn. Finally, master jeweler Orlando Orlandini shows off his stunning gold and platinum jewelry that has bedecked the likes of Princess Diana and Sharon Stone.
